A two-port circuit has two terminals at each port. The inter-relationships between the voltages and currents at the terminals of each port are given by two-port parameter set. There a several two-port parameter sets, and these are used for different types of circuits and for different types of interconnections between two-port circuits. One of the most useful sets is called the transmission parameters, or T-parameters, defined by:- This is a very powerful set because cascaded two-poit networks (such as the second order filter sections in higher order filters) can be calculated by multiplying their T matrices.
